Teaching American History – Presidents and Political Parties

December 12, 2015

What role should political parties play in our politics?  Did the Framers believe that political parties were pernicious evils to be avoided, or necessary evils in a democratic system?  What is the relationship of presidents to Political Parties?  Should they remain above party politics, be constrained by party politics, or be the leaders of the parties?

This seminar explores how early American presidents confronted the issue of partisanship, and later presidents worked within, or against, the party system that emerged in America.

One-Day Seminars: Presidents and Political Parties hosted by Mesa Public Schools (Phoenix, AZ)
