When You Turn 18
October 10, 2017
Overview: A variety of lessons will be utilized during this one-day training that will enable officers and teachers to help their student’s transition from the classroom to life after high school. The main tool provided is the “When You Turn 18” brochure, a project of the Arizona Foundation for Legal Services & Education in partnership with the Arizona Supreme Court and the Maricopa County Courts. The “When You Turn 18” brochure was developed to inform students of the new rights and responsibilities that they receive on their 18th birthday. Twenty-one different topics are addressed, from contracts and credit cards to domestic violence and drugs. All topics are relevant to students’ lives and focus on the legality of each issue. Through these lessons and activities, students will be provided with the necessary knowledge to assist them in exercising their rights while remaining law-abiding citizens.
