People & the Planet: Hands-On Geography for a Growing World (Tempe)

Learn about 41 innovative activities, 18 readings and 31 infographics that are fully accessible online for middle school classrooms.  Explore such topics as : Climate change, water scarcity, global wealth inequality, and more.  These hands-on strategies will keep you and your students engaged and emphasize real world problem solving.

Grade Level Focus:  6 – 8 But teachers of other grade levels may attend with the intent they will modify the lessons for their own teaching situations.

When: Monday, July 9, 2018 | 9am – 3:00 pm

What to expect:

A download access code for Population Education’s new middle school curriculum, with over 40 lesson plans aligned to Arizona State Social Studies standards

Additional age-appropriate teaching resources and access to curriculum items

Lunch

6 recertification hours

Please bring a laptop or tablet to participate in the online activities.

Cost: Free but you must place a $30.00 deposit which will be returned if you attend.

 

Deadline to Register: In order to join us at this workshop, we must receive your registration, including payment, no later than 11:00 pm on Sunday, July 1, 2018.

Cancellations must be made by Sunday, July 1 or before, to have your deposit returned if you do not attend. 

Substitutions are accepted.

 

Because we do not control the temperature of the room or air conditioning inside, you might consider bringing a sweater (or a fan) depending on your needs for the day.
