Interpreting Primary Sources Using a Geographic Lens – June 6, 2017

When?            Tuesday, June 6, 2017 |  9:00 am to 5:00 pm

Cost?               Free but you must place a $30 deposit to assure your attendance at the event.  It will be promptly refunded after you attend.  If you do not attend, we will be keeping the deposit.

Who should attend?   Teachers, grade levels K -12.  Limited to 25 participants.

What to expect: In this workshop you will learn about five new tools for educators developed by geographers to analyze and interpret documents, maps, political cartoons and other primary sources.

  • Thinking Historically and Geographically
  • Using the Library of Congress Website
  • Using Primary Sources with a Geographic Lens: Applications to Maps, Documents, Audio Visual Materials, Images, and Political Cartoons (hands on activities)
  • Demonstration of a Model Lesson

Requirements:

  • Must bring a laptop or tablet to class which has wireless connection capability.
  • Share this opportunity with your colleagues.

NOTE:

Because we do not control the air conditioning, you might consider bringing a sweater (or a fan) depending on your needs
