James Madison Legacy Project – We the People 2017

The James Madison Legacy Project brings the We the People: the Citizen and the Constitution curriculum into the classrooms of high-needs schools. This program strives to increase the number of highly effective civic education teachers through various professional development opportunities. The teachers in this program take their knowledge and assist students in achieving state civics and government standards. Students will be able to explore what it means to be a responsible citizen.

Who Can Participate
•Government or Social Studies teachers of grades 6-12
•Teachers new to the We the People curriculum
•Teachers who serve high-needs schools
Teachers Receive
•A $750 stipend
•A classroom set of We the People textbooks & teacher’s guide (up to $680 value)
•Program training which includes professional development hours
•Knowledge from experienced We the People mentors and scholars
•Hotel accommodations in Albuquerque, NM for the duration of the summer institute
•Round trip airfare to Albuquerque, NM
•Substitute reimbursement up to $100 for each training held during school hours
•Online Resources

Application Deadline is February 28, 2017

June 19, 2017 Travel to Albuquerque, NM
June 20-24, 2017 Required JMLP Institute
June 24, 2017 Return travel to Arizona
